What Supporting Yourself Really Looks Like

I’ve been thinking a lot about resistance lately—both the kind you feel when you’re trying to stick with something difficult, and the kind I’ve been feeling with my pelvic floor exercises (yep, we’re going there!). If you’ve ever struggled to keep up with something that requires consistency, you’ll definitely want to check out this latest podcast episode.

So, here’s the deal. I went for my pelvic floor physical therapy (PT) appointment, and let’s just say it was an adventure. Between missed appointments, rescheduling mishaps, and the constant battle to actually do my exercises (spoiler: I didn’t do them—at all), I learned something pretty powerful.

The key takeaway? Getting support sufficient to your resistance. What does that mean? Well, it’s all about matching your level of support to the task at hand. If something feels hard, it’s probably because you need more help than you think. We’re constantly doing this for our kids, but how often do we apply it to ourselves? I break it all down in the episode, sharing how I used my appointment as a way to build a structure that helped me move past my resistance. (And yes, I actually did my exercises a few times this week—progress!)
